Qualification for DAR Membership

Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death, as well as of the Revolutionary War service of her patriot ancestor. To assist in your research, the NSDAR Ancestor Search database lists ancestors on whom members of the National Society have joined. This listing is continually updated as new membership applications and supplemental applications are approved. Need help with your research? Fill out a Pedigree Chart (pdf) as completely as you can and bring it with you when you meet with a Blue Spruce chapter representative. She will be able to guide you through the application process. If you’re lucky and already have a blood relative who is or was a member of the DAR, you will only need to provide proof of your relationship to that relative.

Transfers and Associate Membership

TRANSFERS: New to the Front Range area? The Blue Spruce Chapter, NSDAR, welcomes transfers from other chapters. If you’d like to discuss transferring your DAR membership to the Blue Spruce Chapter, please access the CONTACT form at the top of this page.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS: After becoming a member of a chapter, you may want to consider joining another chapter, anywhere around the world, as an Associate Member. Many DAR members join a chapter where friends/family are members in another city. Others like the idea of joining a chapter in the town or area where your patriot(s) lived. Or embrace your wanderlust and join a Units Overseas Chapter.
